Serpihan Cahaya
Hidup...
Ketika kau harus masuk ke sebuah lorong
Panjang, gelap, tak tahu harus kemana
Dan ada sesuatu yang menjaga
Kakimu tuk tetap melangkah
Ada saatnya kau berjalan
Menikmati segalanya dengan perlahan
Ada saatnya kau berlari
Mengejar sesuatu yang tak pasti
Ada saatnya kau mundur
Karena tak tahu lagi harus kemana
Tetapi beberapa hal yang pasti
Harapan kan tetap menerangi jalanmu
Sahabat kan tetap menemani langkahmu
Cinta kan tetap mewarnai hidupmu
Masalah menjagamu tetap berdiri
Tuhan kan tetap memastikan, kau percaya ada cahaya... Di ujung lorong ini
Dan, janganlahh sesekali
Berjanji ketika kau bahagia
Berbicara ketika kau marah
Memilih ketika kau sedih
Semua tuk satu alasan, menemukan cahaya di ujung lorong
Dan pada saatnya kau sampai
Kau pun kan lihat... Padang indah
Dimana terbentang cita-cita dan tujuan
Terbentang harapan dan kebahagiaan
Akhir dari perjalanan panjang
Melalui beribu persimpangan
Kemudian akhirnya kau percaya
Semua itu tak sia-sia

A poem of my friend
Kamu
Oleh: Fherly Aulia
Ketika tidak terbesit sedikit pun akan berubah
Dan ketika semua itu menjadi tak berguna
Kau datang seakan-akan menjanjikan perubahan
Bagaikan air dikala kekeringan
Bagaikan angin dikala kepanasan

Story sharing
I found this story quite heart touching...
After 21 years of marriage, my wife wanted me to take another woman out to dinner and a movie. She said, “I love you, but I know this other woman loves you and would love to spend some time with you.”
The other woman that my wife wanted me to visit was my MOTHER, who has been a widow for 19 years, but the demands of my work and my three children had made it possible to visit her only occasionally
. That night I called to invite her to go out for dinner and a movie. “What’s wrong, are you well?” she asked.
My mother is the type of woman who suspects that a late night call or a surprise invitation is a sign of bad news. “I thought that it would be pleasant to spend some time with you,” I responded. “Just the two of us.” She thought about it for a moment, and then said, “I would like that very much.”
That Friday after work, as I drove over to pick her up I was a bit nervous. When I arrived at her house, I noticed that she, too, seemed to be nervous about our date. She waited in the door with her coat on. She had curled her hair and was wearing the dress that she had worn to celebrate her last wedding anniversary. She smiled from a face that was as radiant as an angel’s. “I told my friends that I was going to go out with my son, and they were impressed, “she said, as she got into the car. “They can’t wait to hear about our meeting.”
We went to a restaurant that, although not elegant, was very nice and cozy. My mother took my arm as if she were the First Lady. After we sat down, I had to read the menu. Her eyes could only read large print. Half way through the entries, I lifted my eyes and saw Mom sitting there staring at me. A nostalgic smile was on her lips. “It was I who used to have to read the menu when you were small,” she said. “Then it’s time that you relax and let me return the favor,” I responded. During the dinner, we had an agreeable conversation – nothing extraordinary but catching up on recent events of each other’s life. We talked so much that we missed the movie. As we arrived at her house later, she said, “I’ll go out with you again, but only if you let me invite you.” I agreed.
“How was your dinner date?” asked my wife when I got home. “Very nice. Much more so than I could have imagined,” I answered.
A few days later, my mother died of a massive heart attack. It happened so suddenly that I didn't have a chance to do anything for her. Some time later, I received an envelope with a copy of a restaurant receipt from the same place mother and I had dined. An attached note said: “I paid this bill in advance. I wasn't sure that I could be there; but nevertheless, I paid for two plates – one for you and the other for your wife. You will never know what that night meant for me. I love you, son.”
At that moment, I understood the importance of saying in time: “I LOVE YOU” and to give our loved ones the time that they deserve. Nothing in life is more important than your family. Give them the time they deserve, because these things cannot be put off till “some other time.”

The Red Sea, is it really red?
The red sea is located between Asia and Africa. When you
look at the list of seas that exist on the planet, the red sea is the only sea
that exists in the southern-most region in relation to other seas.
Why called red sea?
The name red sea has been a translation that is related to
its location. But, interestingly, the name red was originally used to refer to
direction, as was the practice in ancient times in that area, to use colors in
referring to directions. Thus, red is south and one of the famous kings had
been quoted freely replacing red for south, while black was used to refer to
the north.
Facts and figures
It is estimated that the red sea covers up to 438 000 square
kilometers of area and has a length of about 2250 kilometers. This is even much
longer and bigger in area than many European countries. On average, this sea
has a depth of 490 meters. But many have argued that it has to be much higher
than that because the deepest part of this sea has a depth of 2.2 kilometers.
Additionally, the measurements that have been taken along the width of this sea
have varied figures. This data shows that the widest part of this sea has a
width which goes up to 355 kilometers.
The red sea has also been noted for its having many shallow
areas that support many species of aquatic animals or aquatic life in its
variety. Thus, it has been estimated that, apart from the rich corals supported
along the rich areas of this sea, there are over a thousand species of aquatic
animals living in it. Besides these facts, the red sea is associated with the
rich biblical history with the Israelites. This is the only sea where the
miracle of parting a sea in two was performed and has never been repeated
anywhere after that.

Who invented Paper
Paper today is
produced across the world whereby the cellulose pulp (moist fibers) derived
from wood, grasses or rags is pressed together and subsequently dried into flexible
sheets.
Who invented Paper:
There has been much
debate on who invented paper with many theories doing the rounds. One such
popular belief was that the paper has its origins in ancient Egypt. This belief
took its roots as the word “paper” came from the word “papyrus”, a plant found
in abundance in Egypt.
The First known
person who invented paper:
As per recorded
history and as most commonly acknowledged, paper and the pulp paper-making
process were said to be developed in China during the early 2nd century AD by
Tsai Lun.
How he made paper:
He is said to be the
first to create a thin, flat sheet or tissue primarily from bark, hemp, or
rags. In fact, the elements of this ancient Chinese method are still used in
modern paper mills. This style of Chinese paper making then spread to the West,
Japan, Egypt and Europe, where it is said to have been introduced in Spain
around AD 1100.
Modifications in
creation process:
By the 1400s paper
was being made throughout Europe, but it was three centuries later in the late
1700s that paper was being produced in long, continuous rolls. In 1798 a French
paper mill clerk invented a machine that could make a continuous sheet of
paper, that too of different sizes and shapes, from wood pulp. This machine was
subsequently improved and patented by English paper makers Henry Fourdrinier
and Sealy Fourdrinier in 1807. This invention is considered crucial to the
development of newspapers.
Man first wrote on
rocks, cave walls, wood, stone tablets, clay, tree barks, and several other
materials. The invention of paper is undoubtedly a major contribution to man’s
evolution from its primitive past to modern civilization. The paper is an
imperative part of man’s day-to-day life, be it as a child or as an adult. Even
in this modern computer and internet age, we still rely heavily on paper.
However, the receding greens and other environmental concerns have created a
lobby for `paper-less offices’ and judicious use of paper.
Other than
paper-making, the invention of gunpowder, printing and the compass have also
been made in ancient China and all of these together are considered as the
`Four Great Inventions’ of China.

What is a Time Zone
A time zone has been defined as a region within which the
time is considered to be the same. This synchronizing of time is mainly
employed to make sure that people living in the same country will have the same
time within which they plan their activities.
How many time zones are there in the world
There are about forty time zones around the world. These
time zones are synchronized using what is known as the UTC or standard time.
Therefore, the time zones range from UTC–12 to UTC+14. The rest of the times
are synchronized within those limits. The main importance of the time zone is
that when you are visiting a city for the first time, you will be able to know
what time of the day it is and what they are likely to be doing once you know
what time it will be when you arrive.
How it works
In order to determine these time zones, it has been
established that whenever you move between latitudes that are spaced at 15 degrees,
you gain or lose an hour depending on where you are going. Thus, if you are
moving to the West, you are losing time by the same rate – one hour per 15
degree movement. While if you are moving towards the east you are gaining time.
But since time zones are mainly important for legal, social and commercial
purposes, you may find that a lot of importance has been attached to making
sure that you make use of the correct time zone for your country or region.
The giant countries have many latitudes crossing them at
different points. Therefore, you may find that such countries do not have one
time zone. But they can have many time zones, as well as one at the very center
of the whole country. Therefore, depending on which city you have visited, you
would know the time zone they are using and reset your body watch so that you
time your activities accordingly.
Amazing facts about time zones:
France has most time zones than any other country in the
world and is leading with 12 time zones while United states has 11 and Russia
has 9 time zones.
Geographically China has five time zones but officially they
have only one time zone.
Almost every village had its own time zone till 1800 based
on their own clocks synchronized with solar noon.
Daylight saving time or summer time is a terminology which
is being used in many countries in Summer to utilize more sunlight by
forwarding their clocks by one hour.

Alcohol: Is it good or Bad for your health?
Like smoking, use of alcohol
has also become very common in teenagers as well as aged people. People usually
drink alcohol occasionally and present lame excuses and justifications to
defend their act but it is a fact that, it is dangerous and harmful even in
small amount. The post is written to spread awareness against the alcohol.
Why you shouldn’t drink alcohol?
Alcohol has been stated as one of the leading causes of
accidents in many countries around the globe. The worst part of this trend is
that deaths that occur as a result of people abusing alcohol normally come as a
result of reduced reaction time and other problems emanating from the brain’s
failure to function normally. All the fatalities in this case can be completely
avoided if the consumption of alcohol was to be regulated. Therefore, it is one
of those problems which mankind has brought up as a result of consuming some
substance which harms the body. For some reason, it is even believed that
victims of alcohol abuse eventually become addicted to it and end up harming
themselves badly.
In some cultures the harmful nature of alcohol does not
sting them because their traditions have managed to take it up as part of their
diets naturally. But when you look at the sociological aspect of alcohol, you
can find that the people who have been taking it have faced serious
sociological issues. The commonest of them is the misuse of money that is meant
for the family on alcohol and strained relations in the family. Such people
drink with the view of getting intoxicated not as a way of supplementing the
diet.
Harms to expecting mothers:
Alcohol has also been noted to be the cause of many serious
ailments. For example, expecting mothers have been told to avoid taking alcohol
as it might result in either delivering underweight babies, or intoxicated
babies. But the worst case scenario is that the same alcohol has sometimes been
linked to miscarriages or the delivery of premature babies. In any case, it can
be said that alcohol does not help anyone to improve their livelihood when
abused.
Diseases caused by alcohol:
Anemia, cancer, cirrhosis, depression, high blood pressure,
depression, pancreatitis, nerve damage and cardiovascular diseases are some
major diseases that are caused by drinking alcohol.

Greta Oto, the Glass Winged Butterfly
The Greta Oto or the glass-winged butterfly, is a butterfly
that has attractive transparent wings with an opaque lining along the edges. It
is mainly been found in Mexico and along the panama Islands. One of the
surprises it has for people who study the lives of these organisms is that
there are some debates about where it lays its eggs. Some have pointed to some
grounds around the places where it is found. But evidence has pointed to the
fact that it lays its eggs on the leaves of plants. A fully developed adult can
easily be seen in the groups when time comes for migration. They have been
known to migrate for long distances as compared to other species of
butterflies.
When the glass winged butterfly lays eggs, the caterpillar
that later develops from the larva is considered to be toxic. For this reason,
this caterpillar is not eaten by predators. In fact, even a fully grown
butterfly is considered to be toxic
and is not eaten too. This is mainly attributed to its
feeding on toxic vegetation by the male butterflies. These males use the
chemicals from such plants to develop features that attract females. In fact,
this is one feature which has helped in marking its survival among a series
of possible predators.
The wings of a glass winged butterfly have been estimated to
be between 56 milimeters to 61 millimeters. The body of this amazing butterfly
is also something intriguing enough to capture even the attention of the
busiest individual. First, it has those elegant translucent wings with edges
ranging in color from brown to red or generally opaque. But the body is
completely dark in color. The feature of having colorless wings seems to have
been so distinctive that its Spanish name is espijitos which, when translated,
in English literally means little mirrors. Perhaps that is why even in many
other languages that have attempted to give is unique names have all ended up
having something to say about the main feature.

Mr. Bean – The greatest comedian of current era
Name: Rowan Sebastian Atkinson
Born: 6th January 1955 in England
Profession: Actor, writer and comedian
Famous for: Mr. Bean, Johnny English, Blackadder,
and Not the Nine O’Clock News
The character that has been named Mr. Bean is Rowan Atkinson
– an English comedian of all time. He was the writer and main character in the
release of fourteen episodes with different titles, but with the same main
character, Mr. Bean. Each of the fourteen episodes lasted for twenty five
minutes and most unique titles carried the name Mr. Bean. Although he wrote most
of them, the writing of those episodes was done by two other people who have
worked closely with him. He has been featured in many live performances and has
continued to be a household star in the world of comedy around the globe. The
episodes that he released included ‘Good night Mr. Bean’, ‘Merry Christmas Mr.
Bean,’ ‘The trouble with Mr. Bean’ and many more with their unique titles.
One interesting fact about the work of Rowan Atkinson or the
main character Mr. Bean in the comedic episodes is that in the majority of them
he either completely avoids talking or does not talk too much. This is also
reflected in the cartoons that have been produced under the main character Mr.
Bean. But while refraining from talking, he spends his focus on a lot of action
that is very hilarious. When the cartoon was released, it was expected that
almost the same 14 episodes were going to be featured, but that never happened.
Instead he created fresh stories that were fitted to the cartoons nicely.
His success in acting did not just end with those episodes
and the cartoons. But he also featured in a movie portraying an English
detective who captures the notorious criminal and an ex-convict Pascal. In this
movie, he breaks his tradition of avoiding too much talk as he continues
talking around freely and creating a series of hilarious scenes along the way.
During the official opening ceremony of the Olympics 2012, he was featured
discreetly dressed like one of the musicians and he ended up performing a
unique style of comedy which took the audience by surprise.

Researchers Develop a Self-Filling Water Bottle that Harvests Water from the Air
There is water in the air around us at every moment. While this may not seem very significant if you live in a water-rich area, this untapped resource could benefit everyone from athletes on the go to people living in arid areas of the world. Taking a cue from the Namib Desert Beetle, scientists have developed a water bottle that can fill itself up by harvesting water from the atmosphere.
The Namib Desert Beetle has a shell that is covered in bumps, which allows humidity in the air to gradually accumulate on its back until water droplets form. These droplets roll down the beetle’s back and directly into its mouth, allowing the insect to survive in environments where ground water is scarce. Researchers have mimicked this shell to develop a bottle that utilizes the same water collecting effect. This technology can also be used on tent covers, roof tiles and other items.
NBD Nano is taking advantage of this technology to create a water bottle that can continually fill itself up. The company hopes to have the water bottle on the market by 2014. “We see this being applicable to anything from marathon runners to people in third-world countries, because we realize that water is such a large issue in the world today, and we want to try to alleviate those problems with a cost-efficient solution,” says Deckard Sorensen, co-founder of NBD Nano.

Psy beat Justin Bieber B^)
Psy's 'Gangnam Style' becomes most viewed YouTube video of all time
"Gangnam Style," the cult hit by Korean hip-hop star Psy, has become the most viewed YouTube video of all time, beating the previous record-holder, Justin Bieber's "Baby." At the time of writing, the video — which was uploaded in mid-July — has over 803,760,000 views, beating Bieber by more than 30,000. It also remains the site's most liked video, having won this accolade in September.
As well as a boost for Psy, taking the top spot is a victory for his record company, YG Entertainment. While every other video in the top six is hosted by content marketing firm Vevo, "Gangnam Style" is hosted on Psy's own "officialpsy" channel, run by YG. Whether the company will be able to harness their star asset's newfound popularity to prevent him becoming an international one-hit wonder remains to be seen.

Solar Roof Tiles
Solar powered houses are not some sort of futuristic idea, is happening now and there have been important improvements, some energy companies are producing enough solar energy to power even small cities. We’ve seen solar panels and sometimes aesthetics have even become a major obstacle to the development of more renewable energy sources, it has happened with eolic turbines in several places.
What would happen if you could integrate renewable energy technology into your house without sacrificing how you house looks? Well, now it is possible and even combining traditional decorating elements with the latest technology. The Italian company Tegolasolare has developed roof tiles with solar cells on them, they are called NewRoof Hybrid. They are not only beautiful; the roof tiles are extremely useful because of the integrated solar cell to collect energy from the sun and also the insulating nanotech material that reduce energy consumption used in cooling or warming your house.
Our roofs are usually a non-used space and those tiles can collect lots of energy. Remember that the amount of solar energy that reaches the earth in one day is more than enough to meet global energy demand annually, so if we can exploit that space in our roof we can reduce the amout of CO2 gases we generate by using fossil fuel derived energy .

The Fisherman
One day a fisherman was lying on a beautiful beach, with his fishing pole propped up in the sand and his solitary line cast out into the sparkling blue surf. He was enjoying the warmth of the afternoon sun and the prospect of catching a fish.
About that time, a businessman came walking down the beach, trying to relieve some of the stress of his workday. He noticed the fisherman sitting on the beach and decided to find out why this fisherman was fishing instead of working harder to make a living for himself and his family.
"You aren't going to catch many fish that way," said the businessman to the fisherman, "you should be working rather than lying on the beach!"
The fisherman looked up at the businessman, smiled and replied, "And what will my reward be?"
"Well, you can get bigger nets and catch more fish!" was the businessman's answer.
"And then what will my reward be?" asked the fisherman, still smiling.
The businessman replied, "You will make money and you'll be able to buy a boat, which will then result in larger catches of fish!"
"And then what will my reward be?" asked the fisherman again.
The businessman was beginning to get a little irritated with the fisherman's questions. "You can buy a bigger boat, and hire some people to work for you!" he said.
"And then what will my reward be?" repeated the fisherman.
The businessman was getting angry. "Don't you understand? You can build up a fleet of fishing boats, sail all over the world, and let all your employees catch fish for you!"
Once again the fisherman asked, "And then what will my reward be?"
The businessman was red with rage and shouted at the fisherman, "Don't you understand that you can become so rich that you will never have to work for your living again! You can spend all the rest of your days sitting on this beach, looking at the sunset. You won't have a care in the world!"
The fisherman, still smiling, looked up and said, "And what do you think I'm doing right now?"
